These terms are an agreement between you and e404 Technology (“Cammute”, “we”) for the use of the Cammute apps and website. By creating an account you accept them. If you don’t agree, please don’t use Cammute.
1. What Cammute is
Cammute is a technology platform that helps colleagues who travel the same route to the office share a ride in a private car and share its running cost. Cammute does not provide transport, does not own or operate vehicles, does not employ drivers, and is not a party to the arrangement between a driver (“host”) and passengers.
2. Cost sharing, not hire
- Hosts offer seats on trips they are making anyway. A host may only ask passengers to share the cost of the trip, never to make a profit.
- The app caps each seat at a per-kilometre rate (currently ₹9/km) multiplied by the trip distance and divided by the seats offered. Hosts may not ask for more outside the app.
- Hosts must not use Cammute to run a taxi, cab or any commercial passenger service, and must follow the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 and local rules that apply to private vehicles.
3. Payments
Passengers pay hosts directly, by UPI from their own UPI app or in cash. Cammute does not collect, hold, transfer or refund money and charges no commission. The app records whether a payment was claimed and confirmed, and our support team can help mediate a disagreement, but we are not responsible for payments between users or for failures of UPI apps, banks or payment networks.
4. Your account
- You must be 18 or older, use a company email address you are entitled to use, and verify an Indian mobile number.
- Keep your profile accurate, including your car details if you drive. Don’t share your account.
- Hosts must hold a valid driving licence, valid registration, insurance and PUC certificate for the car, and drive safely and lawfully.
5. Rides, cancellations and ratings
- A ride starts only when the passenger gives the host their ride code in person. Never share your code before you are in the car.
- If plans change, cancel in the app as early as possible. Repeated late cancellations or no-shows may lead to restrictions.
- Ratings must be honest and about the ride.
6. Safety
We provide tools such as verified profiles, ride codes, live trip sharing and SOS. Cammute is not an emergency service. In an emergency, call 112. SOS opens your phone’s dialer for 112 and alerts our team, but we cannot guarantee a response time.
7. Conduct
You must not harass, threaten or discriminate against anyone; carry anything illegal; drive under the influence or while unfit; collect other users’ data; or misuse the platform. We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms, and we may share information with authorities where the law requires.
8. Liability
Users travel at their own risk and are responsible for their own conduct. To the extent the law allows, Cammute is not liable for loss, injury or damage arising from rides arranged through the platform, and our total liability to you is limited to ₹1,000. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under Indian law.
9. Changes and termination
We may update these terms and will tell you in the app before significant changes take effect. You may stop using Cammute and delete your account at any time.
10. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of India. Courts at Lucknow have exclusive jurisdiction. Before going to court, please write to us at hi@e404.in so we can try to resolve the issue. Our Grievance Officer is Grievance Officer.
